Finding, and honoring, your truth.

September 20, 2016

Good morning, beautiful people. This week’s Yoga Tool is Satya, or Truth. Sometimes we hear, “The truth hurts,” or “Be brutally honest.” None of that is necessary to find your way to the truth that can turn into a less stressful, more joyful way of living.

“Beauty is truth, and truth beauty—that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.” —John Keats

The truth can be painful at times, like when we come to the point of making a big decision and taking the next right action. But think of the relief that comes when that pain goes away. And think of the discomfort you feel when you’re just telling a lie.

Now imagine living a lie. It’s not difficult to imagine, because many of us have. We all know the subtle and chronic pain it causes, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.

So how do you find your truth? Meditation has been the best way I’ve found to tune into that small, but strong voice whispering “Please pay attention to this.”

This message can be about something positive. What if the truth is that you’re a really good person, and that those negative feelings you’ve been having are all false? What if your inner wisdom is pointing you toward taking up something you’ve always wanted to do? The truth will always lead toward your own north star.

All you have to do is listen.

For a simple way to meditate, practice Pranayama meditation with Deergha Swasaam, the Deep 3-Part Breathing method.
