Guided meditations for essential workers.

April 29, 2020

Recently I saw a photo on Instagram of my friend Louis Boria, who you may know as @brooklynboyknits. He’s a knitting superstar, and he’s also a hospital worker—which means he’s a superhero, working with other superheroes on the front lines of this health crisis. In the caption for the pic, Louis talked about how he’d contracted covid-19, and, thankfully, recovered. He was in full PPE and back at work, and he said, “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”

Like you, I think about healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential workers all the time. Every time I hear an ambulance go by, I pray: May all be safe. When I go out to get food, I thank the shop keepers and restaurant staff for being there for us. When I hear the sanitation trucks at night, I send my gratitude to them.

I wanted to do more, so I made these two guided meditation videos—one is a breathing meditation, and one is a meditation for relaxation. Both are brief, 4 and 6 minutes, because I know everyone is busy, especially essential workers. There is no visual instruction; it’s all guided by voice, so you can close your eyes and just listen.

Please share these videos with any essential workers you may know, and also please enjoy them yourself, because you are essential. Each one of us is, in our own way.

Enjoy the videos, stay safe, and be well!
