Stitching away stress.

July 2, 2019

If you think knitting is relaxing, you’re right: Knitting can reduce your heart rate by 11 beats per minute. This is excellent news for people who have high blood pressure, as well as anyone feeling stressed. The UK-based organization Knit for Peace found that knitting can even be as relaxing as yoga, according to their study of 15,000 relaxed and happy knitters.

I know when I feel stress either from what’s going on in the world, or just what’s going on around me (there’s some illness in the family), knitting is a friend that brings me back to a peaceful place where I can think clearly, or take a break from thinking. For more about knitting as a form of meditation, click here.
