Weaving bliss.

June 21, 2019

A few years ago, I was in what you could call a stressful place: one of my best friends was dying, another had an accident that left him paralyzed, and I ended up going to three funerals in one year. That’s when I started knitting.

More recently, I noticed that certain aspects of knitting reminded me of meditation. I’ve since found out there’s some science behind that, mostly centered around cognitive anchoring (giving the brain a focal point by engaging the hands). I began to apply my meditation and yoga training to knitting. The result was MedKNITation™, and bliss.

MedKNITation™ is a different way to meditate, with soothing breathing exercises, guided meditation, and of course knitting, crochet, embroidery, or any kind of stitch work. All fiber artists are welcome at MedKnitation.

MedKNITation™ is now a monthly event at Knitty City, a warm and welcoming yarn shop on Manhattan’s legendary upper west side. The first MedKNITation™ session will be held there on Thursday, June 27, 6:30 pm, and sessions will be held regularly on the last Thursday of each month. Spaces are limited, so please register at 212.787.5896. I hope you can join me!
